Most parts of the country has well-established Community Forest with clearly identified mandate for sustainable management. But the management of Community Forest has loosely incorporated Biodiversity Conservation initiatives in its Guideline and Community Forest User Group’s (CFUG) Operation Plan (OP). Therefore, ECCA has, now, adopted a vision to extend its scope in implementing the conservation awareness level into real practice through eco-friendly mobilization of Natural Resources which will not only incorporate biodiversity conservation initiatives into their implementingThe project targets to build capacity of concerned government and partner agencies: CFUG and other grassroots level local NGO/CBO to manage sustainable natural resources that will initiate effective conservation of biodiversity through conservation based management on priority species of the corridor. Building close coordination between communities, local bodies, government line agencies and concerned stakeholders of cross boundary area will further strengthen the conservation of key species in the Kanchenjunga-Singalila corridor by enhancing their capability on protection, monitoring and mitigating threats to conservation.
In the Long-term, the project aims to strengthen capacity of key stakeholders to be involved in the Biodiversity Conservation of key sites outside protected areas of the Kanchenjunga-Singalila Complex.
