Environmental Resource Center (ERC)
Situated just 17 km from Kathmandu city at the south-eastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley, ERC is an ideal venue for conducting quiet, productive and creative programmes away from the hubbub of the city life. One can have spectacular panoramic view of the entire northern range of Himalayas as well as the roof top view of Bhaktapur City from there. It is located at Sipadol Village of Bhaktapur and can easily be reached by 20 minutes walk (10 minute drive) from Jagati (Araniko Highway).

Spreading over an area of 3,200 square meters, ERC today comprises a training hall, dormitory, dining hall, store and guardhouse. Conservation effort carried out since the purchase of the land in 1992 has resulted in the wide range of vegetation despite of all construction work.

The ERC functions as a site for training, research & learning, and experiencing nature.

Training:
ERC has a training hall equipped with all essential equipment for training i.e. multimedia projector, overhead projector, Video/VCR etc. Besides it has dormitory that can accommodate up to 30 people and a separate dining hall.

Inclusion of all these facilities has increased the number of organizations conducting training, retreats and overnight programmes in the center.

Research and Learning:
ERC offers a venue for research and study on various environment issues. Several efforts have been made for managing the existing land and other natural resources in a sustainable manner. Measures of bioengineering such as brushwood check-dam sedimentation, plantation etc are being used to control soil erosion. For the demonstrative purpose, the available space is divided into different zones such as kitchen gardening, agro forestry land and forest.

Experiencing Nature:
ERC is protecting all kind of vegetation since the beginning. As a result it has been successful not only in providing the sense of wilderness but also home to about 50 different species of birds, few species of mammals (including endangered species Pangolin) and various wild plant species. In order to provide the favorable environment to the birds various efforts such as nesting, hide shed, cleaning water log, natural feeding is being done.

Further more the center also offers adventurous trail route for the nature hike; a wider playground for outdoor activities as well as camping; natural surrounding for activities like treasure hunt, abseiling, etc.

People who seek more adventure can go for a day-long trek to Aashapuri, Sanga Bhanjyang, and Lakure Bhanjyang from the center.
Conclusion
ECCA invites all the organizations as well as nature loving individuals to use the center and take a unique opportunity to experience nature while fulfilling your objective.
