Environmental Resource Center (ERC)
 

The Environmental Resource Center (ERC) is designed to provide environmental friendly ambience for hosting trainings, retreats and overnight programs. It is the ideal place for conducting quiet, productive and creative programs away from the hectic and haphazard schedule of the urban lifestyle.

The ERC provides the following facilities:

Traning Hall and Dormitory

The training hall can accommodate up to 50 people. A small podium or stage is at the south end of the hall. The hall is equipped with a slide projector, an overhead projector, a video/VCR, white board and a flip chart board. On the second storey, above the training hall is the dormitory consisting of two separate rooms (for men and women) each equipped with double-storey beds. The dormitory can accommodate upto 24 persons. There is also a room for the trainers which can accomodate 4 people and sufficient toilets/ bathroom. 

Research and Learning Site

ERC offers a venue for research and study on various environmental issues. This can be done through the materials available at the site. It is a good place for observing birds, trees and vegetation, watershed area, rural life and gully erosion. ERC in protecting all kinds of vegetation since the purchase of land in 1992. As a result it has been successful not only in providing the sense of wilderness but also home to about 50 different species of birds, few species of mammals (including endangered species pangolin) and various wild plant species.A wider play ground for outdoor activities, adventurous trail route for the nature hike is also available.

Kitchen Cum Dining Building

There is also a separate kitchen cum dining building with all necessary facilities. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire northern range of Himalayas of the valley as well as the roof-top view of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur cities while taking food. 

Location

ERC is situated at the eastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley, in the Sipadol VDC, Bhaktapur. It is 20 minutes walk (10 minutes drive on a rough road) from Jagati. From ERC, you can get a panoramic view of the entire northern range of Himalayas as well as the roof-top view of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur cities.
